The owners of this home based on Sydney’s North Shore wanted to create an informal living space that was both inviting and functional as well as in- keeping with the home's existing style.
The living room serves a number of purposes, from a sitting and reading room, to a place watch the kids in the pool room, to a place to sit and relax with friends and family. It's located in the middle of the downstairs area, so it's also a kind of 'go to' spot that's convenient from everywhere.
The design for this room was inspired by the navy bookshelves, which really set the tone for the space. "It's become known as 'the blue room,'" says Becc Burgmann, the interior designer behind this project.
The cabinetry adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the space which Burgmann says "blends elements of Hamptons, English, and Provincial design styles."
"I love that this room is fun and vibrant. It’s full of colour, patterns, different textures and both new and old pieces.
